Parent Coordinator

Dear Dewey Families,

I wanted to send you a warm greeting and take the opportunity to introduce myself as the new parent coordinator at Charles O. Dewey- Middle School 136. I am very pleased to join this school community and to start this journey.

I would like to take this time to share a little about myself. I am the mother of three children, all of whom graduated from public schools. During the course of their school years, I became involved in many of the school activities offered by their schools. I realized the importance of being involved in my children's education. From then on little by little, I began to work as a volunteer, attended many school events and became an active parent in their school communities. I decided to join the department of education as a paraprofessional. I served in that role for 10 years. The experience of working as a paraprofessional helped me to grow as an educator and to learn more about students and their needs. Most importantly, it taught me how to help parents learn the many different ways that they can be involved in their child's academic life.

As the new Parent Coordinator at Dewey, my goal is to make parents more involved in their child's academic life while helping them with needed resources. I look forward to our partnership and to meeting you all soon in the near future. If you have any concerns or questions, please feel free to contact me at (718) 840-1950 Ext-1084.
