Principal’S message

Principal at MS 136 Smiling at Camera

Dear Dewey Community,

I am Myrna Gonzalez Rojas, and it is with immense pride and joy that I assume the role of principal at Charles O. Dewey-Middle School 136. My journey has come full circle, starting as a math teacher over two decades ago in this very school. Born in Ecuador and raised in Sunset Park, Brooklyn, I am deeply honored to serve the community I call home.

Having taught subjects ranging from Math to ESL and served in various capacities, my experiences have shaped me into a fierce, passionate, and dedicated educational leader. My commitment is to provide a quality education, and I firmly believe in fostering partnerships, especially with our families.

As the principal of Middle School 136, I am devoted to creating a welcoming, nurturing, and safe environment that supports students’ social, emotional, and academic well-being. Graduating from our school, students will be independent, resilient, curious, courageous, committed collaborators, using their voices to empower others in their communities.

Every day, as I step into our school, I am reminded that I am living the dream I had as a little girl. This fuels my dedication to ensuring that Charles O. Dewey-Middle School 136 offers nothing but the best. I look forward to witnessing the incredible things and opportunities that the future holds for our school community.

Warm regards,

Myrna Gonzalez Rojas (Principal/Directora)
